Sea Shells Bambolim, Goa is true to its name.
The gravel outside the restaurant is not gravel, it’s sea shell. The curtain at the entrance is not made of cloth it’s made of, you got it, sea shells. The flower beds inside the restaurant are covered with sea shells. There is a whole wall dedicated to bottles filled with sea shells. You get the idea. But believe me it’s cute.
We went for dinner, so cannot say much about the view, but I could hear the ocean right next to me, like I was on the edge of it on a rock. I bet the view is great during the day.
We had the Malabari Prawns. They were great. Hot and hot both ways and crispy. The fried onions that accompanied were equally crunchy. A great dish to start the dinner with.
Cheese Fish Fingers were the other starters. Comparatively blander than the spicy prawns, they were none the less crispy and the kids enjoyed it more because of the cheese. The accompanying tartar sauce was fresh and creamy.
For main course we had King Fish Curry and Chicken Xacuti. The king fish curry was delicious. We enjoyed that with roti and rice.
The chicken Xacuti was the only dish we didn’t like. The masala was not blended properly into the gravy like when a dish is not cooked long enough to form a cohesive gravy.
We had Bailey’s Chocolate Mousse and Coffee Crème Brule. Both were good, though brule was a tad sweeter than how I like it. But both were consumed with enough gumption by the other three people to know that they enjoyed it.
Also, on one of the days, when there was India-Zimbabwe T20 World Cup match, we ordered Chicken Biryani from them. It was yummy. All in all, a good restaurant to eat from. And they had live music during dinner. I just wish we had gone during the day to see the view.
You will not find the restaurant on Zomato (as of 14/11/22, it shows Permanently Closed) but they are on Insta and Google.
The other really good place to head over is Bay 15, good food and great views galore.
PS : Since it was a family vacation to Goa and we didn’t have a car so we had to pay ₹ 500 to and fro for taxi from our hotel. So, from Day 2 onwards we got ourselves a self-drive car. This seemed a better option to us.
