After 2 years of being at home, it is always a pleasure to be able to get out of the house. Especially if that reason is your child’s first board practical. So, like the special occasion it was, it demanded a special meal. Since we had to go to Bandra, all we had to do was look up a good place. Both of us were in the mood for something light (as in not a full curry and naan meal) we opted for a local café, The Bagel Shop.

First of all, finding the place took us about a minute once we reached the place according to Google maps, because there was a mini truck standing at the gate of the café and it’s sign was not visible to us. But if the map says you are there and you see a semi-wraparound veranda with tables and chairs for seating, know that you have reached the right place. But finding a parking space is a challenge.

We had gone in the afternoon, and I can imagine how cute the place must look in the night. There are about 5-6 tables inside the café, but the outdoor seating is quite spacious with chairs and sofas to choose from. Actually, a good place for an outing with your gang.
As the name suggests the emphasis is on bagel. Though there is a lot of variety available. There is even a pet menu (though we didn’t see any pets for as long as we were there). We chose a soft bagel Freaky Streaky Bacon Bagel, Chicken Cubano, Cold Coffee, Lemon Iced Tea.

The bagel sandwich was tasty and my daughter really enjoyed it. Same with cubano. The grill was perfect and the filling was tasty and I love the texture of pulled chicken. The cold coffee was good but they don’t add sugar to it, so remember to have it added or add it before you drink (personally I prefer the former, will remember for next time). The one thing i didn’t enjoy was the iced tea. It was heavy as if brewed for too long, it wasn’t light and refreshing. Also I wish they would serve a bit of coleslaw or some greens or chips (what can I say, I need these with any bread prep), to add to the presentation of the plate and to the eating experience.

Met the owner too, Lester, who wished my daughter all the best for her exam. All in all a good experience and worth exploring again. I want to try their mains this time. Some good options there.
